NT8 · THE HOLDFAST STACK

Direction. Strength.
Location.

Every trade answers three questions: which way, how hard, and from where. Each Holdfast tool answers exactly one of them — and the trade you want is the one where all three agree on the same bar.

THREE TOOLS, THREE JOBS

No overlap. No contradiction.

These aren't three opinions about the same thing — they read three different layers of the market, which is why their agreement means something.

DIRECTION / TIDE

Which way is the water moving?

The regime ribbon and higher-timeframe structure tell you the only direction worth trading. When the ribbon runs blue and the tide agrees, longs are on the table and shorts aren't — that simple, that visible.

STRENGTH / GRIP

Is the trend actually gripping?

Direction without strength is a drift you'll donate to. Grip's one number tells you whether the move has real traction — a ribbon flip with Grip still pinned near zero is a market that hasn't decided, whatever the colors say.

LOCATION / LEVELS

Where does the trade make sense?

Even the right direction at the wrong price is a bad trade. Liquidity Levels marks where resting size has proven it wants to defend — the pullback targets and invalidation lines that turn a bias into a trade with defined risk.

THE WORKFLOW

One trade, three confirmations.

The panel above shows the sequence exactly as it appears on a live chart. Read it bottom-left to right.

1 — Price finds a Proven level

The green line at 28500 isn't drawn from yesterday's high — it's resting size that sat through the validation clock and earned Proven status. Price basing on top of defended liquidity is the location box, ticked.

2 — Tide turns and stays turned

The ribbon flips blue as the EMAs stack and spread past the gap threshold, with the higher-timeframe structure pointing the same way. Direction confirmed — and counter-tide setups are no longer setups.

3 — Grip confirms traction

In the lower panel, Grip pushes through +0.25 and keeps climbing — the move has statistical spine, not just pretty colors. This is the difference between a breakout and a lunge.

The amber circle

All three agree within a few bars of each other: defended level below, blue ribbon, rising Grip. That's the confluence entry — long, risk defined under the Proven level, target the Holding level overhead at 28850. When any leg is missing, the honest position is no position.

PRACTICAL NOTES

Start anywhere. They stack cleanly.

Tide and Grip run on any data feed, so they work the day you install them. Liquidity Levels reads Rithmic's MBO depth feed (how to get it) — if you don't have it yet, run the other two now and add Levels when your data does. Each tool stands alone; the stack is where the edges compound.

On screen they occupy different real estate by design: Levels and Tide overlay the price panel, Grip sits below it. One chart carries all three without clutter.

QUESTIONS

Straight answers.

Do I need all three to get value?

No — each is built to stand alone, and the right starting point is whichever question your trading currently answers worst. If you get chopped up, start with Grip. If you fight the bigger flow, Tide. If your entries are right but your prices are wrong, Levels. The bundle exists because the three edges compound, not because any one is incomplete.

Does the whole bundle require Rithmic MBO?

Only Liquidity Levels does. Tide and Grip run on any data feed NinjaTrader accepts. If you buy the stack without MBO, two of the three work immediately and Levels activates the day your data does. If you're not sure what you have or what to buy, this page explains MBO, whether to buy one exchange or all four, and what it costs.

How are the licenses delivered?

One purchase, three license keys — one per tool, each good for two machines, so every tool activates independently and you can run Levels on the trading desk and Grip on the laptop without conflicts. Keys are issued to your purchase email shortly after checkout.

Is this a strategy?

No. It's three measurements and a discipline for reading them together. The tools tell you direction, strength, and location; whether and how you trade that information stays entirely yours.
